About Time and Being

We have all heard this about time. That time passes by. And that time flies. Or that time crawls. Over time the passage of time has been well documented. Let me take a moment in time to to propose something different. There is no time. It is completely made up. A human delusion. A human invention created to establish some sense of order in an apparently infinite and ever expanding multiverse.

In my free time I have thought quite a bit about this. When we look back over time. Time is stationary. It's fixed. Back in time nothing changes. History may change. Or more correctly stated our understanding of what actually happened may be more factually substantiated, but when looking back time is frozen. It has already happened. It is dead. When we look forward in time how far can we see? When we exercise our prescience what do we learn. I love the word prescience. When we imagine what is going to happen in the future we are literally employing pre - science techniques to lend credibility to our guesswork.

So if time actually exists it lives in the infinitely finite space between the past and the future. Now. Right now. Here. In the present. As I write this I am making history. As I tap the next letter. As I think the next thought. Between thinking the next word and recording the last word I lost track of time. Or more accurately I missed it. It happened so fast it's like it never existed in the first place. Maybe I'm splitting hairs here, but maybe time exists in between the two halves of this split hair.

Let me propose something radically different here. Time stands still. Not just in those very special moments in life when it feels like time stood still. I propose that time is stationary. Time is a completely stationary construct. Motionless. Constructed by necessity by a uniquely human superpower our imagination. We watched the universe around us and invented calendars to map and track to months and weeks and days. We watched the Sun and invented clocks to map and track the hours and minutes of the day. With these two mighty inventions we are able to predict the movement of the stars and our Sun and with definite and predictable prescience know when tomorrow will come. We know when next week and next month and next years will happen giving the impression they are coming and going as time passes by, but is time actually moving? The earth is spinning and we are all orbiting around the Sun and our mapping and tracking devices are recording the movements and creating a time-line of recorded history, but this doesn't prove the movement of time.

I propose time stands still and we move through it. We as humans move through time. This thought has brought me to the inevitable conclusion that we are both physical creatures and spiritual beings. As physical, animal creatures we experience the effects of our passage through time sure as the night follows the day. We are born. We grow. We learn. We age. We die. As spiritual beings we experience this passage through time, but our spiritual being, our Soul is timeless. Unlike our bodies our Soul stands outside of time and space. Our intellect, our hearts, minds, and bodies are trapped in time our conscience, our spirit, our Soul is not.

Amen.

5th Dimension

O mind, we must think beyond the known, We must reach, we must reach into the fifth dimension, Where the borders blur, where the edges bend....
